Situated between the Purcells and Rocky Mountains of British Columbia – at the heart of half a dozen National Parks – Golden is a mountaineering paradise where guiding has been an important profession for over a century.
Outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world flock to the area for the skiing, hiking, climbing, whitewater paddling, paragliding and wildlife viewing.
In 2000, the region became home to the Canadian Rockies' newest ski resort, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort . With the second-highest vertical drop in Canada, and world class mountain biking in the summer, it is well worth a visit.
